Do I have to submit my original airline ticket upon application for the visa already?
No, the Embassy asks for a print-out of the confirmation of the reservationof the round-trip flight.
In accordance with Article 14 and attachment II of the Visa Code, which is binding for all members of the Schengen Area as of April 5, 2010, evidence of a reservation of a return ticket has to be submitted when the application for the visa is applied for at the Embassy.
The submission of the original ticket may, however, be requested by the Embassy upon approval of the visa.
The Embassy would like to point out that the individual airline is responsible for the policies for boarding and not the Embassy.
The traveller himself / herself has to make sure before boarding the flight which documents the airline will ask for at the check-in.
