The German government, through the Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ),granted 4.75M Euros, or about Php 280M for technical cooperation in climate protection and biodiversity projects, in a memorandum of agreement signed with the National Economic and Development Authority.
The agreement allocates these funds towards biodiversity protection projects under the Environment and Rural Development Program in the Philippines (EnRD) and the Conflict Sensitive Resource and Asset Management (COSERAM) Program in the Caraga Region.
It also specifies the reallocation of remaining financial cooperation funds towards communal infrastructure projects under the COSERAM Program which has been extended beyond 2014. COSERAM is a capacity building project commissioned by the BMZ aimed at reducing poverty and building peace in the Caraga region through the peaceful and sustainable governance of natural resources and other assets.
The memorandum of agreement was signed last Tuesday 15 November by BMZ Head of Division for Southeast Asia Dr. Josef Fuellenbach and NEDA Deputy Director-General Rolando Tungpalan.
