For Nationals who do not require a visa, it is highly recommended that you purchase a travel medical insurance for the duration of your stay, even if you are insured abroad under your statuatory health insurance system.

You should also provide proof of means for your planned stay and documentation about the purpose of travel on entry of the Schengen Area.

We hope your stay in
Germany will be most enjoyable and exciting. However, there is always a risk that illness could strike while you are on holiday. Should this happen, doctor's bills and hospital costs can soon become very expensive. If you do not have any health insurance, you will be liable to pay all these costs yourself. Your statuatory insurer will be able to provide informatíon on the cover they provide in Germany. However, certain expenses will not be covered. Prime amongst these are repatriation costs.

An additional travel medical insurance is thus recommended to fill such gaps.

If you intend to work, do an internship or stay longer than the maximum length of stay (90 days within six months), you will have to apply in most cases for a long-term visa.
