A Memorandum of Understanding among the Department of Education (DepEd), the German Embassy and the Goethe-Institut Philippinen is expected to boost the chances of Filipinos gaining access to world-class higher education and to career opportunities worldwide and in the Philippines. The agreement will strengthen the cooperation in the networking, implementation and development of German programs in secondary education in the Philippines.
The agreement was signed earlier this week by DepEd Secretary Br. Armin A. Luistro, German Ambassador Christian-Ludwig Weber-Lortsch and Richard Künzel, Director of Goethe-Institut.
The signatories stressed the important correlation between education and development. Secretary Br. Armin A. Luistro, FSC and German Ambassador Christian-Ludwig Weber-Lortsch underscored the important role that sustainable trained, motivated and well-paid teachers play.
All parties agreed that globalization has prompted countries to increase their competitive edge in job opportunities by making its citizens learn some of the world’s widely used and important languages such as German.
