European Film Festival in Palau

With the successful 3rd run of the film festival, the “EU – Palau Film Festival continues its tradition of further enhancing dialogue between European and the cultures of our partner countries through the silver screen.” Words spoken by Mr. Jürgen Schrod (First Secretary for Cultural Affairs. Geman Embassy) during the opening ceremonies of the 3rd Palau EU Film Festival.
In attendance during the opening ceremonies were the Honorable Maria Gates-Meltel (Governor of Angaur), Ambassador Carlos "Hiros" Salii (Palau Ambassador to Germany), Ms. Faustina Rehuher-Marugg (Palau Minister for Community, Culture and Arts) and Mr. Thomas Schubert (Honorary German Consul in Koror, Palau). The German film "The Crocodiles" and the Austrian film "Lilli the Witch, the Dragon and the Magic Book" were shown on opening night to an enthusiastic crowd.
Recently held at the Koror State Capitol Assembly Hall in
Palau, a total eight films from the European Union were shown from April 28 - May 1, 2011. Other films were: Long Weekend (Belgium), Good Morning (Italy), The Other Side of the Bed (Spain), Rascals on the Road (Switzerland), Christmas Story (Finland), and Three Wishes for Cinderella (Czech Republic).
