DOST laboratory awarded certificate of German Accreditation Body

Ambassador Weber-Lortsch recently handed over the accreditation certificate on behalf of the Deutsche Akkreditierungsstelle GmbH (German Accreditation Body, DAkkS) for the Department of Science and Technology’s (DOST) National Metrology Laboratory. Ms. Aurora Kimura, chief of the Metrology Division of DOST’s Industrial Technology Development Institute (ITDI) was at hand to receive the certification. Department of Science and Technology Secretary Mario Montejo was also present to witness the hand over.

The National Metrology Laboratory of the Philippines (NMLPhils) is operated by the DOST. Its formal accreditation now allows the NMLPhils to perform calibration in the fields of temperature, mass and pressure. This international accreditation is an important milestone for the international recognition of the National Metrology Laboratory as the top of the Philippine metrological hierarchy and as service provider to the industry.
