A high-level delegation from the German Parliament visited Manila from 15-19 June 2011 to further strengthen the ties between Germany and the Philippines. The delegation was headed by the Vice President of the German Parliament Dr. Hermann Otto Solms and also included members of Parliament Petra Ernstberger, Jörg van Essen and Manfred Grund.

The delegation held talks with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Feliciano Belmonte, the Acting Senate President Jinggoy Estrada, the Acting Foreign Secretary Esteban Conejos Jr. and Secretary of Finance Cesar Purisima. They also met with representatives of the German business and development community in the Philippines.

In the talks with the leaders of the Lower and Upper House and with the government, both sides reaffirmed the excellent and close bilateral ties between the Philippines and Germany, notwithstanding the continued existence of problems like the unresolved NAIA III issue.
